Fink/Perfect Darkness

Fink/Perfect darkness

It has been a bit quiet the last Wednesdays on this blog. The reason isn’t that I’m busy with other stuff or my interests have changed. No way. It’s getting more and more difficult to find something worth mentioning every week and I don’t want to just bring up stuff I know already for ages (though I have done this sometimes).

This week, something new is coming: Fink with Perfect Darkness has finally been delivered to my doorstep. As usual I’ve already forgotten about what I’ve ordered.

Oh Boy: That was a jackpot. Waiting the last two weeks for something to come up was worth it.

If you’re following a bit the current TV series The walking dead and you’re up to speed with the latest episodes, then there’s a chance that you’ve heard a song from that album. Maybe even without paying attention.

I basically bought the album just a couple of minutes after I’ve heard Warm Shadow from Fink. Partly it was a blind shot, partly I trusted my instinct.

This English guys goes into a totally different direction the other albums I’ve lately acquired, but nonetheless it’s going in the right direction. His voice might remind you to Alice in Chains, while the music has elements of Radiohead. A quite interesting combination is the end result.

The album basically just flows through your ears. Most songs are in general longer than the radio-three-minute-pieces. But when you’re done, you really think: “What was that? Is it already over? Can I hear it again?”…
