Junip/Fields

Junip/fields

The Swedish band Junip around Jose Gonzalez was well hidden to me until their name recently showed up somewhere. That might have been on a playlist somewhere, somehow connected to Mr. Gonzales, maybe on one of the poster hanging around in town.

As earlier with other artists, it takes some time until the ear develops its sense for the music and for the album. In the beginning it just seemed to easy…

There was nothing special, or at least: that how it sounded. But I left the album Fields running for a bit, I didn’t want to give up on it so easy. And Junip didn’t disappoint me.

While some songs still stayed in the background, others started storming forward and presenting them self, showing off a bit here and there and finally showing me the entrance into the music.

The music of Junip fits well into the style of other Swedish folk artists without loosing too much of it to the unimportance of the folk-pop. Nice, Very nice.
