Matt Corby/Song for …

Same as Ben Howard a while ago, the Australian Matt Corby has just a little output (both are quite young). I hope this will increase over time. However, both have publish some exceptional songs so far.

Though is wasn’t enough material for a whole album, the EP Song for… gave a good introduction of what more there will be to expect.

In one episode of The Voice 2013 Kristian Kristensen delivered an astonishing performance of Matt Corby’s song Brother. The cover version might even be better than the original, but it pointed my focus into the right direction.

While going through the previous songs, I more and more fell into the sound of this Australian. There are surely some analogies to Bon Iver, especially within the voice. But that’s about it. I don’t want to give you the idea of him just being a mirror of Iver.
