Midlake/The Courage of Others

Midlake/the courage of others

During the past weeks there wasn’t that much new music coming on my desk. Well, some was new, but never appealing enough to actually mention it. Or listen to it more than once.

But since a while now I find myself listening to the American band Midlake and their 2010 Album The Courage of Others. This seems to be one of the treasures you only find once every half a year or so.

Especially this album is more the quite and kind type. But even if you decide to follow up the lyrics in all details, already the first song will break your neck. I have no clue what it is about - but it’s wonderful.

The first time went through the album already the opening was mesmerizing (acts of a man). But later, down the road, the simplicity and emotional charging of bring down got me and is haunting me since. Still without any idea what it’s about.

The coming March they’re also coming here - so it’s time to buy the tickets now. I’m already looking forward to it.
