The House

2018-07-04

Done. We’ve moved in and the building has finally finished. After almost two years of waiting this project is finally finished.

Some small minor follow-ups are required by various companies, but we’ve already reached the level where we can live there.

So close, so close… One more day to go.

Work on the street has started.

Things are getting greener and greener. Just one more week to go.

You can see now where the garden is gonna be. That question was on our mind more than long enough.

2018-06-16

Yesterday the work on the outside started. You can see that. There’s a lot going on today.

2018-06-14

The fire escape is in place and we have taken another look inside. These are the last days. Soon the work outside will start.

After a one week break and the first inspection last week, the outer decorations start to take place. Most changes have been on the inside, so not much shows on the pictures.

The balcony looks pretty much finished and the inside start to take shape as well.

2018-04-29

I guess they are working on the balcony, aren’t they?

2018-04-22

Small, baby steps. But at least I can see somebody working on a Sunday. A little bit stressed maybe? Anyway, it should go faster now with all the snow gone…

Work continues. The balcony is starting to take shape.

2018-04-08

Hmm. Not much has changed.

Work on the balcony has started. Finally.

After the showing a couple of days ago, the work on the balcony is starting….

2018-03-18

The outside is almost done, we think. The rest will probably continue on the inside. The outside finish will come when the snow is gone.. .probably.

Another beautiful day. For personal reasons (being busy) I moved my weekly flying to Sunday again. Compared to last week it seems we finally got a garage/carport thing in place. Through the windows in the third floor I could also see some interior work going on. It will be ready in about three months from now. So we are slowly getting excited.

Beautiful weather, just some temperature problems with the drone and the visual connection. But still some progress on the house.

2018-02-17

Another good day of flying. Since the houses have been sealed, there’s no chance of getting in. Ant on Saturdays somebody is always working there.

I guess there will be more to see when the snow starts to melt.

2018-02-10

Nothing much has changed. The house of sealed and they are working soon on the inside. The moving is supposed to be in June as far as we know.

The house has finally revealed itself. And it got a door on the wrong side.

It has been two weeks without a visit. Nothing much on the outside has happened. But there is a bit:

  • The roof is on some houses.

  • Windows are in (partly).

  • We’ve finally signed all customizations.

2017-10-19

Still progress…

2017-10-14

One week break, one week no visit and the second and third floor is in place…

2017-10-07

Now it starts to take off. There is a weekly progress to see and it’s a joy to go and visit.

2017-08-27

You go on a trip for a week or two and when you come back somebody has decided that this probably was the best time to get some shit done.

To my surprise the first houses started to raise (not ours unfortunately - this is getting to be running joke, I guess). Progressively work starts to spread and hopefully will reach the furthest corners as well. At least that’s what has been promised.

2017-08-05

This week finally some progress. Still in the wrong corner of the field, but progress at last.

2017-07-23

Small steps.. baby steps. But still progress.

2017-07-16

The drone got out again and spotted some progress. The first four buildings on the opposite side have been established. Noe change on our ground, but that was known.

2017-07-02

The drone is back up in the air with a working camera. But that’s about it. No progress on the building suite :(

2017-03-10

Just quick detour today to checkout some floor tiles nearby. So far we have narrowed it down to three different types. That does not mean there will not be others, but so far it feels pretty good to have something to aim for.

2017-03-09

kitchen draft

We have invited ourselves again to the kitchen-makers to discuss some changes we came up with.

It seems like the more time you have at hand, the more ideas you get (and the pricier it gets).

So we added some drawers under the wall-section, changed some minor details here and there, replaced doors with drawers and put like 20cm more on the kitchen.

Until next time…

2017-02-10

Today was the day where we went and chose between a zillion of possibilities for customizing our home. I felt like I feel when I get a new phone: “Oh, would you like a different color here? What about there? Is this too big?”

Unfortunately, all changes will possibly increase the bill that’s gonna be presented at the end. I hate this. :(

So we went through the floor, the walls, the electrics, data-stuff, windows, heating, lights, piping, doors and music.

I probably forgot something to mention, but this list is quite extensive. There are some more questions open, of course. So we have to discuss those internally and find an agreement - or at least figure out what we would like. This isn’t that clear al along.

On the downside we got some more information about the project stop. There will be a delay roughly until the beginning of may. This depends on some deadlines and work that must be done by the city. Until then no further digging and building. Quite a bummer and unnecessary…

2017-02-09

Our “future” neighbours started complaining a while ago, that someone wanted to build some buildings in their beautiful view. It took some time, but at the meeting last Tuesday it was concluded, that the whole project has to undergo a general inspection by the city again. Great.

This means some delays in the project and a complete halt to the building process according to the building company. While some reasons for complaining might be relatively reasonable, the general vibe that I get is more like “mimimimimimi”.

The document is linked here.

kitchen draft

The second visit at the kitchen-shop has been done. Amazingly - I thought we had already discussed most in the new kitchen - we used up another 90 minutes, just on the appliances and small changes.

The only thing left are some minor upgrades we might or might not want to make to the hardware built in. This depends totally on the price and the comparisons I can make to the stuff we currently use. There we know the faults and quirks and failures. Just to make sure we do not end up with the same weaknesses. Some time to think about this is required.

2017-01-28

Finally the building project has started and the first steps have been done.

Kitchendraft

Today we have been out to start selecting the parts of the new kitchen in the house.

We have done this before, but I forgot how much fun and how annoying it can be at the same time. All those choices, all those costs.

We made it through the first 90 minutes meeting and discussed colours and shapes, other solutions - basically we tried to figure out what we did not know were in our heads. Stuff we liked and disliked.

So far we have made it to the first draft (see below) and we haven’t even talked about the electric stuff in there, nor have we gotten an estimate of what this will cost us extra.

There is more to come, more to choose from and more to pay.
