The black keys/El camino

The Black Keys/El Camino

It’s over. 2011 has passed.

Finito.

But still, more and more albums from last year are hitting my desk and I wonder where have they been when they’ve been published? I didn’t see them coming, appearing, what-so-ever.

But that’s no excuse for not having The black Keys at least mentioned here once.

I saw them in 2007 in Berlin supporting Pearl Jam. The noise only two people on a stage can make was astonishing (I’m talking about hand-made music here, man!). Last year now El Camino came out.

From the first song you already now their style. They lost a bit of the roughness they had in the beginning. I remember reading the story that they recorded their first songs on a small tape-something-recorder in their garage, which must have supported the unique sound they always had. Luckily the were able to keep at least a bit of it so it’s still easy to identify them when you suddenly hear a song or two.

Try it out. I guess you’ve already heard at least a couple of songs without probably know it. They appeared in a couple of commercials, TV-Series and other places in the background.
